Markus GENESIUS

Markus Genesius is a German artist who has performed for many years on cities’ walls. Like the great Picasso, whom he admires, Markus Genesius wanted to perfectly master the art of drawing before shifting to the less easy form of abstraction.

For five years now the artist has been developing an iconography of the TV test pattern fixed in everyone’s memories.

The complex composition with graphic structures and polygonal shapes produces a great dynamic in Markus Genesius’ paintings. This tension generates a three-dimensional aesthetic that rises above the mass. The artist symbolises the nihilism and offers a break to the viewer, the time of contemplation is at work in this society of immediacy.
