La Collective Les canailles, Thibault Laget-Ro, Valérie Newland, Ignacio Lobera

Jardin Rouge  I  June 2019

The Montresso* Foundation presents « La Collective » in the Helmets Room. Bringing together the work of four artists created at Jardin Rouge, the exhibition is an opportunity to present the new projects and residents of the cultural season. Through « Nuit Blanche », the duo Les canailles has deepened its research on storytelling by studying the narrative scheme of the genre in order to propose a series of collages using cut-out paper. Following on from work on the theme of exile, Thibault Laget-Ro presents a series of paintings on canvas relating the recent Honduran migrant march, « The Hondurans ». Driven by her research on the semantics of thread, Valérie Newland unveils her new project, « Prototypes ». In this way, she delivers a sensitive work, in which the nature of the materials used reflects an ambivalence intimately linked to our human nature. Finally, while immersed in Jardin Rouge, Ignacio Lobera continued his research on stereotypes related to the image of the femme fatale. For his first residency, the artist imagined the series « Dos Rombos », a kind of shadow theatre, in order to explore through drawing the paradoxes of local culture.
